GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - Health officials say some 1,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccine showed up in Ottawa County spoiled.
It was among 21 shipments of the Moderna vaccine that went out Sunday and arrived at their destinations with temperature monitoring devices showing doses had gotten too cold to use, the state said. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said six more shipments were held back to confirm they were safe.

The memorial comes as the United States hits another grim milestone - surpassing 400,000 covid deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic.
The committee is encouraging people across the country to join by “illuminating buildings and ringing church bells at 5:30 p.m. in a national moment of unity and remembrance.”

101-year-old gets COVID-19 vaccine as Kzoo Co. hosts clinic for seniors

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Kalamazoo County health department has started vaccinating people over the age of 65 against COVID-19, on Tuesday holding its first clinic for the group.
The appointment-only clinic was held at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center, which has already been used as a hub to vaccinate health care workers and first responders.
Frances DeYoung, 99, was the first person of the day to get the shot.
“It didn't hurt a bit and was real easy,” she said.
